月山館
The Yueshan-guan (Gassankan) is a private training activity in Seattle centered around the practice of traditional internal martial arts from China and Japan led by Mark Raugas.
Bagua, Xingyi & Taiji
I am the fortieth chair lineal student of Zhang Yun laoshi, who studied under the late Grandmaster Wang Peisheng (Yin Cheng) in Beijing. I maintain a practice of Yin style Bagua Zhang, Hebei style Xingyi Quan, Northern Wu style Taiji Quan, foundational methods of jibengong and qigong, as well as traditional methods of sword (jian), saber (dao) and spear (qiang).
Kenjutsu
I also have studied several classical approaches to Japanese swordsmanship. Since moving to Seattle in 2016 I have focused on preserving a practice of the Kashima-shinden Jikishinkage-ryū kenjutsu I learned at The Hōbyōkan, which taught a version of the art as handed down by Namiki Yasushi and Itō Masayuki. Over time, I have balanced my formal kata practice and analysis with pressure testing called tameshi-ai.
