Troy Gehrett is a budo and dharma colleague of mine who lives outside of Portland, Oregon. He trains actively in Takamura-ha Shindo Yoshin-ryu (jujutsu and kenjutsu) and in the past has trained in Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu kenjutsu, Water Boxing (Liu He Ba Fa), and Essence of Evolution (EoE). He is also a devoted dharma practitioner, and has been long associated with the Gyuto Wheel of Dharma Monastery in Minneapolis, MN. Born in Kham, Tibet, Ven. Abong Rinpoche was recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as the third incarnation of Kunkhyen Abong Rinpoche. Ven. Abong Rinpoche is a fully ordained monk and geshe lharampa— having earned the highest scholastic degree possible in the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.
